Whether it’s Cabo San Lucas (CSL), Southern California desert (SoCal) or south Florida (SFla), the weather in an outdoor sport such as ours is paramount – duh! Although a bit obvious, it can be a challenge and preparation is very important. For example, in CSL the attire is shorts 364/365 days and maybe a light jacket. In SoCal, it can be long pants, sweater and/or jacket, and even a rain jacket – just look at this year’s storms! In SFla, be prepared for all seasons – sometimes on the same day. Storms pass through regularly and usually move on.
Having experienced all these in the last few weeks here are a few on my tips:
- Shorts are the mainstay
- Light weight rain jacket that can double as just light jacket, preferably short sleeved. Much more versatile that way
- Waterproof shoes – except for CSL – if it gets that bad it’s going to be a major storm and the courses will close ahead of time
- Hat and/or visor
- Sunscreen
- Several gloves for possible wet conditions and maybe rain gloves for SFla. Especially good for short but heavy rains
- Bring a great attitude because after all we are outside having a great time!
- Enjoy!
Posts will very since we are travelling for several weeks.
